Leicester City should offload Andy King and Adrien Silva in January

After a remarkable turnaround of fortunes under Claude Puel last season which saw Leicester City finish 9th in the standings, there hasn’t been anything spectacular from the Foxes this term in the Premier League. Claude Puel’s men slipped to 12th in the standings after a shock 1-0 defeat at the hands of Crystal Palace this week.

Much of Leicester’s woes this season has been down to the inconsistent displays of several of the key players in the squad. The loss of Riyad Mahrez to Manchester City in the summer dealt a huge blow to their chances and Rachid Ghezzal hasn’t quite proved his worth as a replacement.

As things stand, Leicester once again face the risk of mid-table obscurity this season and they need a few fresh faces in January to boost their chances of securing a Europa League spot. Here are 2 players that they should offload to make room for new arrivals:-

1. Adrien Silva

The Euro 2016 winner made as many as 9 starts for the Foxes in the second half of the last season after completing his move from Sporting Lisbon. However, he has been frozen out of the first team by Puel this season and his involvement has largely been limited to the domestic cup competitions.

Silva started the game against Manchester United on the opening day of the Premier League but he hasn’t started a game since then, with his only other appearance being a cameo against Wolves.

Leicester are already well stocked in the central midfield with Nampalys Mendy and Wilfried Ndid while Vicente Iborra is also an option for Puel.

A technically sound central midfielder, the Portuguese international still has plenty to offer at the highest level and Leicester should cash in on him in January to raise valuable funds.

2. Andy King

A product of Leicester City’s youth system, King made his debut back in 2007 and has been an integral part of their journey through League One and Championship and was a part of the 2015-16 squad that won the Premier League.

The 30-year-old is yet to make a single appearance for Leicester this season after spending time on loan at Swansea last season. The veteran has accumulated 61 goals and 24 assists from 374 appearances for the Foxes across all competitions and there shouldn’t be a shortage of potential suitors should Leicester place him on the transfer list.
