Leicester City keen on a deal for Olympiacos star Aguibou Camara

According to SunSport, Leicester City are eager on sealing a deal for Olympiacos ace Aguibou Camara next summer. He has turned heads at the Greek club this season, including scoring recently in the 3-2 thriller against AEK Athens.

Aguibou Camara came to the limelight when he joined LOSC Lille in 2019. The playmaker featured for the club’s youth setup before making up the step up to the senior team last season. He only made a single appearance but would often feature in the matchday squad of the title-winning side.

He signed for Olympiacos this summer and has been a revelation for the Super League side. However, could he make the switch to England so soon? And would this be a good buy by Brendan Rodgers?

Aguibou Camara could fit into the project at Leicester City seamlessly

Since joining the Greek side this summer, Camara has made 17 appearances across all competitions. The attacking midfielder also has 5 goals and 2 assists to his name, thereby helping the club maintain a 6-point lead at the top after just 10 league games. These are incredible numbers for a 20-year-old, especially after he was not given enough chances in France.

Moreover, he is the kind of player Leicester have signed in the past. The Foxes have an eye for talent, and their recruitment process has been sound in the last half a decade. Players like N’Golo Kante, Riyad Mahrez, Youri Tielemans, Wilfried Ndidi, Timothy Castagne, and several others have been incredible finds.

Camara, like so many of the players signed in the past by Leicester, is a rather unknown quantity. And Rodgers could make use of a talent like him. The King Power outfit currently possesses only Harvey Barnes and James Maddison in the attacking midfield role. But the English duo is yet to really get going this season.

Maddison’s form fell off a cliff in the second half of last season while Barnes suffered a long-term injury. Should the situation repeat itself, the Northern Irishman boss would want reinforcements. They are a regular feature in European competitions now and need the squad depth to compete on all fronts.

Additionally, the Guinean international can only get better in the future. He is only 20 and is arguably already one of the best players in his team. He could improve under Rodgers and settle into this young project in the Midlands seamlessly.

Aguibou Camara is an investment for the future

Olympiacos are thought to be willing to part ways with the attacker for £20million. This is a reasonable price, given the age and potential of the youngster. However, it must be noted that his value could increase if he continues to keep up his good form this season. People close to him are also expecting him to leave the Greek side next summer.

Leicester have already made contact with the player’s agent and should conclude a transfer for him as soon as possible. The quoted price is something that isn’t overly audacious. Moreover, the Foxes have the tendency to develop young talents into world-beaters, even if they end up selling them later on.

Camara could be a similar investment, and he could reap huge dividends in the coming years. The Midlands club must also be wary of the fact that Liverpool and Newcastle United have also contacted his agent.

In fact, Valencia, Monaco, Bologna, and Villarreal are also keeping tabs on him. Thus, this shows that the player is likely to have a bright future, and this is the right time to invest for Leicester.
