Why Leeds United should sign Jack Harrison from Man City permanently

According to the Athletic, Leeds United are planning to make the loan move of winger Jack Harrison permanent in the summer.

Jack Harrison, 23, has spent 18 months at Elland Road on loan from parent club Manchester City. He was at Leeds United in Marcelo Bielsa’s first season and impressed enough to earn a second spell at the club.

The winger’s performances have been consistently improving, with the 23-year-old becoming an ever-present and crucial part of Bielsa’s system this term.

The report adds that Harrison’s release clause from Manchester City is just under £10m. That being said, are the Whites right in planning to sign the 23-year-old permanently?

Marcelo Bielsa’s side are in an excellent position to end their 16-year exile from the Premier League. Leeds have scored 54 goals in 36 games — only lesser than that of Brentford and West Brom. Players such as Patrick Bamford, Helder Costa, Pablo Hernandez, Mateusz Klich and Harrison have combined well in the final third.

Speaking of Harrison, he has become a firm favourite of Bielsa’s, starting every league fixture this campaign – scoring five goals and providing six assists. The former England U21 international, however, is yet to score in the Championship but has been a mainstay for the Whites.

Harrison netted four goals in 40 games across all competitions last season. The 23-year-old has better numbers this term, with five goals in 35 league appearances already under his banner. So far, he has netted nine times in 72 Championship games.

Verdict

Given just how Harrison has improved this season, Leeds must definitely do everything to sign him permanently from Manchester City in the summer.
