Manchester City vs Cardiff City Predictions: Manchester City Line-up

Manchester City welcome relegation-threatened Cardiff City on Wednesday as Pep Guardiola aims to reclaim the top spot of the Premier League table.

The Cityzens eased to a 2-0 victory over Fulham at the weekend and with the EFL Cup already in the bag, Guardiola’s men remain in contention for the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup.

As far as Cardiff City are concerned, Neil Warnock was left disappointed following his team’s defeat to Chelsea and suggested he may play the U23s at the Etihad.

Sergio Aguero was withdrawn in the second half against Fulham with a knock and remains a doubt against Cardiff.

Vincent Kompany and Benjamin Mendy are still recovering from their injuries and would miss Wednesday’s game.

Arguably Manchester City’s best defender, Laporte will partner Otamendi at the heart of City defence on Wednesday.

Oleksandr Zinchenko (LB)

A revelation at left-back, Zinchenko will continue doing the good job for the team.

Ilkay Gundogan (CDM)

Despite Fernandinho back to full fitness, Guardiola will prefer Gundogan at the base of the midfield trio against Warnock’s side.

David Silva (LCM)

Silva has been a crucial player in Guardiola’s side and should keep his place in the starting XI.

Kevin De Bruyne (RCM)

De Bruyne has endured an injury-hit 2018/19 campaign, with the Belgian failing to hit the heights of last season. However, he’ll look to play a key role in the final stretch of games as Guardiola looks to retain the title.

Leroy Sane (LW)

With his pace, dribbling skills and intelligent movement, Sane will look to terrorise the Cardiff defence on Wednesday.

Riyad Mahrez (RW)

Guardiola could look to give Bernardo Silva rest in the midweek fixture which should see Mahrez start on the right wing.
