He made a season-high nine combined tackles on October 1, 2017, as the Titans fell to the Houston Texans 57-14. He also made his first career interception off Deshaun Watson. On October 22, 2017, during the Titans’ 12-9 overtime victory over the Cleveland Browns, Byard had four total tackles, three pass deflections, two interceptions off of Kizer and one off of Cody Kessler. He won AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his three interceptions.

In a 20-17 victory over the Houston Texans in Week 2, Byard threw a touchdown pass to rookie Dane Cruikshank on a fake punt. Byard recorded his first interception of the year by intercepting Joe Flacco in a 21-0 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 6.
