Allen’s career as a football player began in college, as was already established. He played for the California Golden Bears for two seasons at the University of California.

In 2010, Allen’s rookie year, he had 46 receptions for five touchdowns. Allen also had the best year of his career in 2011 with 98 catches for 1343 yards.
