Karolina Pliskova started playing tennis at a very young age and in 2009, Pliskova turned professional.

In 2010, Pliskova won the Australian Open junior title and in 2012, Pliskova made her Grand Slam debut at the 2012 French Open. However, she lost in the first round in straight sets.

In 2013, Pliskova won her first WTA Tour title at the Malaysian Open. Pliskova defeated Bethanie Mattek-Sands in the final. Then, in October 2013, at the Generali Ladies Linz, Plíšková won her first WTA title in doubles. She won the title alongside sister Kristýna, becoming the first twins in history to win a doubles title together on tour.

The year 2014 was a breakthrough year for Plíšková. In the early season of 2014, Pliskova played brilliantly and defeated many top-ranked players. She even played several finals and advanced deep into rounds. Pliskova’s impressive performance helped her break into the top-50 in July 2014.

Further, Pliskova won the 2014 Korea Open, to take her second career title. Subsequently, Pliskova won her third career title (and second of the year) in Linz. Pliskova’s brilliant performance helped her end the season as ranked world No. 24.

Next, Pliskova reached the final of the 2016 US Open. In the finals, Pliskova, unfortunately, lost against Angelique Kerber. After this, Pliskova played in many tournaments but couldn’t emerge victorious. However, in 2016, Pliskova and her Czech teammates completed a Fed Cup hat trick.

In 2017, Plíšková started the season by playing in Brisbane. Pliskova went on to win in Brisbane, thus winning her seventh title. Then, after the 2017 Australian Open quarterfinal appearance, Pliskova’s ranking increased to a then-career-high of world number 3 in the world.

Next, Pliskova played in the 2017 Qatar Open. She went to the finals in the Qatar Open. In the finals, Pliskova defeated Caroline Wozniacki in straight sets to win her eighth WTA title.
