Kamaru Usman posts an image on Twitter teasing a quick return after UFC 278

Kamaru Usman wants to turn things around and make a quick return to fighting. ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ will probably fight Leon Edwards for the third match, and settle this healthy rivalry once and for all in the rubber match. The former UFC welterweight champion lost the belt to Edwards in the main event of UFC 278. However, the stage for the rubber match was set immediately in the aftermath of the main event by UFC President Dana White.

At one of the post-fight press conferences of Dana White’s Contender Series, Dana White claimed that the trilogy will go down as one of the biggest event in the sport. The UFC is already looking for venues on the UK soi, White confirmed.

“This thing is going to be so huge, not just for the U.K. but for Europe. We would hold it prime time in the U.K. We’re looking at every option out there right now. We’re looking at all the venues in England. Not just London, we’re looking at every venue in England. There’s a lot of curfews and things you got to deal with in England but we literally worked on that today. We put a fight night on at the O2 and it sells out in minutes. Imagine what we can do with this thing. It’s gonna be massive over there. We weren’t planning on going to England again. Just like last time I left England.”

Edwards recently appeared on Sky Sports’ Soccer AM and confirmed that Kamaru Usman will be ‘Rocky’s first title-defense fight as the freshly crowned champion.

‘They are saying they want the trilogy, for Usman. It’s in Wembley, bro. I’m not going over there [America] now. I did my job, I went over to his back yard and took it off him so now he needs to come over to my back yard. I’m not going over there again. It’s on my terms now. He has to come over here.”

Kamaru Usman hints at a comeback soon

Kamaru Usman was undefeated for nine years before he met Leon Edwards at UFC 278. The fight began with Edwards using his range to keep Usman away. He threw a strong calf kick and body shots to open his attacks. Usman realized that he needs to utilize his wrestling to disrupt the British fighter’s flow.

He did that effectively and dominated major portion of the fight with ease. However, he got caught with a perfectly times kick that stumped Usman and saw Leon Edwards become the champion.

Usman posted a tweet recently, hinting at a quick comeback with the caption:

“Mi SOON COME 😉👊🏿🌍🤴🏿”
