Confirmed Liverpool XI to face Red Star Belgrade in Champions League

Liverpool take on Red Star Belgrade at Anfield in what promises to be enthralling clash tonight. The Reds reached the final of the Champions League last season but this time around, they have started their campaign in a comparatively underwhelming manner.

Consecutive defeats to Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli have placed Liverpool in a precarious position. Placed in Group C, they do have a tough lot to battle against and the odds are not in their favour right now. However, against Red Star, they have a solid chance of redeeming themselves and adding to their points tally.

With PSG and Napoli considerably ahead of them, the Merseysiders must push for a victory at all costs. And with the electrifying Anfield atmosphere, that should not be a tough task.

The club’s official Twitter account shared the confirmed line-up and here is how Liverpool will take the field tonight:

First things first, Fabinho has been handed a start. The summer arrival has hardly been on the team sheet since his arrival but this will be a great chance for him to impress.

Besides his inclusion, the team remains more or less unchanged. Alisson will take up his usual role between the sticks and the backline consists of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk and Andrew Robertson.

In the midfield, Fabinho, Georginio Wijnaldum and Xherdan Shaqiri will hold the fort. As far as the attack is concerned, all three spots are occupied by Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.

The team is a strong one but can the Reds fire on all cylinders to snatch three valuable points? Only time will tell.
