Predicted Liverpool XI to face Crystal Palace in the Premier League

Liverpool had to grind it out against Brighton away from home last week but the Reds managed to bag all three points with a 1-0 win over the Seagulls to remain four points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table.

Jurgen Klopp’s men will once again be the favourites to bag three points when they play host to a struggling Crystal Palace unit on Saturday.

Crystal Palace lost 2-1 to Watford in their last game and Roy Hodgson’s men, who are currently placed 14th in the standings, will have to produce a miraculous performance as they did against City to halt Liverpool’s juggernaut.

Team News

Jurgen Klopp has plenty of injury issues to contend with for the weekend clash. Trent Alexander-Arnold is ruled out for a month with a knee ligament injury while Joel Matip might be pushing for a start after featuring on the bench last week away at Brighton.

Dejan Lovren is still on the sidelines with a hamstring problem while Adam Lallana and Joe Gomez are unlikely to play a part.

Predicted XI

1. Alisson (GK)

The Brazilian was a mere spectator against Brighton last week and has always been a reliable figure between the sticks.

2. James Milner (RB)

The injury to Alexander-Arnold might force Klopp to use the veteran as a makeshift right-back.

3. Joel Matip (CB)

The Cameroonian was fit enough to be named on the bench last week and he will be pushing for a start against Palace at home.

4. Virgil van Dijk (CB)

The towering Dutchman has been as solid as a rock at the heart of the defence for the Reds this season; virtually an automatic selection for Klopp.

5. Andy Robertson (LB)

The Scotsman has been an ever-reliable presence on the left-hand side of the backline and produced another fantastic performance against Brighton last week.

6. Fabinho (CDM)

The Brazilian did a fantastic job at the back last week but he will be expected to return to his preferred central midfield role against Palace.

7. Georginio Wijnaldum (CDM)

The Dutchman has been one of the mainstays of Liverpool’s midfield this season and he will be expected to continue his impressive run of form.

8. Xherdan Shaqiri (RW)

The Swiss international has always been a lively presence in the final third for the Reds but he will be expected to come up with better end product after a mediocre display against Brighton.

9. Sadio Mane (LW)

He hasn’t been at his best in recent weeks and Liverpool will need him to find his feet as soon as possible.

10. Roberto Firmino (CAM)

The Brazilian has often excelled in a No.10 role this season in Klopp’s 4-2-3-1, causing all sorts of problems with his deft touches and intelligent movement.

11. Mohamed Salah (ST)

The Egyptian talisman scored the all-important winner from the penalty spot last week and Liverpool will once again need him to be at the top of his game this weekend.
