US tennis star Venus Williams has been out of action for quite a while now

Venus Williams, a seven-time Grand Slam singles titleholder, is arguably one of the best tennis players to ever grace the game but off late she has been out of action and fans want to know is Venus Williams still playing tennis?

Officially, Venus has still not called it a day from the sport but has been out of action for quite a while now due to injuries. She is already 41, and it’s just a matter of time when the tennis superstar decides to hang her boots.

Her first Grand Slam came at age 20 when she won Wimbledon in 2000. After that, she went on to win six more singles Grand Slam titles and many doubles Grand Slams as well.

Venus has always played sports with dignity and has set standards for other tennis stars. But at 41 – it is difficult for anyone to keep it going and it has been the case with Venus as well.

Injuries have marred her career off late and it seems that it’s just a matter of time now when she announces her retirement.

Year 2021 for Venus Williams

The year 2021 has been a disappointing one for the ageing star. Williams suffered a bad injury against Sara Errani in the second round at the Australian Open but battled through the pain before finally losing the encounter.

The same happened at Wimbledon as well – when she was knocked out by Ons Jabeur in the second round of the Grand Slam.

She has never looked full fit off late and even withdrew from the US Open earlier this year. Since then she has not featured in any ATP tours and has been out of action. She was also not part of the Olympics.

There are still question marks over when we will see the US star back in action. Officially she is not retired and her fans might hope that they can see her one last time in the court before she decides to call it quits.
