Kevin Gates is an award-winning rapper, singer, and entrepreneur who has been making waves in the music industry for more than a decade. During that time he has released multiple popular albums as well as collaborated with multiple acclaimed artists. Unfortunately, however, Kevin is no stranger to controversy or scandal as evidenced by multiple allegations surrounding him.

Gates recently addressed his sexuality during a podcast interview with Yung Miami on the Caresha Please podcast, saying he was in fact straight and kissing people on the cheek was part of life in New Orleans. He also spoke a lot about his sex life, and this easily suggested that he was not gay but in fact straight.

Though Gates has never explicitly revealed his homosexuality, several indications point toward this being true. First of all, his music contains sexually suggestive lyrics which have been misinterpreted as sexually suggestive; also he has been linked to gay men in the past.

However, it is essential to remember that sexual orientation is a personal decision and should not be discussed openly in public. Furthermore, speculation on someone’s sexuality can be harmful and perpetuate stereotypes; thus it is crucial that we respect Gates’ privacy and do not assume anything about his sexuality based on rumours and speculation.

On an episode of Yung Miami’s Caresha Please podcast, Gates addressed gay rumours head-on by noting they had caused him a great deal of stress and anxiety and insisted he is neither homosexual nor has had sexual experiences with men.

Subsequently, rapper Turk made an effort to clear Gates of any allegations of homosexuality. His video explained how kissing on the cheek is normal in New Orleans and does not indicate one’s sexual orientation – thus dispelling rumours and helping Gates’ fans understand he was not gay.

Furthermore, Kevin Gates is actually married to his long-time girlfriend Dreka Haynes, and the pair have two children. Kevin Gates also claimed to have fathered children with other women and says he is close to them.

At the start of 2019, “Big Gangsta” musician Lil Jon drew attention for displaying public affection towards rapper Turk, prompting gay rumours online and fuelling confusion about whether it was meant as an act of brotherly embrace or not. Later it was clarified that Lil Jon simply intended it this way as an expression of brotherly affection.
