About Becky G
Rebbeca Marie Gomez, born on March 2, 1997, in Inglewood, California, is the oldest of four children. Her parents are Mexican Americans while all her grandparents are from Jalisco, Mexico. Due to financial struggles, her family lost their home and moved into her grandparents’ converted garage.
At nine years old, Gomez experienced a mid-life crisis and decided to pursue a music career. She began working part-time jobs doing commercials and voice-overs to help support her family. Gomez also faced bullying in public school and turned to homeschool. She later joined girl groups and began posting covers on YouTube. Producer Dr Luke discovered her and signed her to his record label, Kemosabe Records, through RCA Records. She then started work on her debut album.
During the production of her debut album in 2012, Gomez collaborated with will.i.am to release “Problem,” which was later remixed for the film “Hotel Transylvania” and played during the end credits. A music video was created in a hotel, featuring clips from the movie. Gomez also collaborated with Cher Lloyd and Michel Teló on the songs “Oath” and “Ai Se Eu Te Pego (Remix),” respectively.
