As you travel the mysterious and wizardry world of Hogwarts you are bound to encounter a lot of enemies as you progress through the story. One of the toughest enemies in the game are the trolls and this article will help you how to effectively counter a Hogwarts Legacy Trolls encounter.
Hogwarts Legacy Trolls Breakdown
Before we begin, please keep in mind that there are 7 different types of trolls in the game. The list is below:
- Fortified Troll
- Forest Troll
- River Troll
- Armored Troll
- Mountain Troll
- Fighter Troll
- Quagmire Troll
Even though there are 7 different types of trolls, there are many subtle changes in their attributes including attack, defense, strengths, and weakness. Overall, they belong to the same kind and the attacks are fairly similar across the board.
At the beginning of Hogwarts Legacy, there are three primary trolls that you should be aware of early on. To begin with, you will encounter Armoured Trolls, River Trolls, and Mountain Trolls. If you know how to play defense, the River Troll is the easiest of the three. These creatures will effectively attack you nonstop, but Protego allows you to block their strikes. To effortlessly burn the Troll and stun it, make sure you hold the shield with every perfect block.
A bit more challenging are Armoured Trolls and Mountain Trolls. Their respective attack patterns consist of three waves. The third hit can usually be deflected, but the first two are typically unavoidable. You should hold off on using your strongest spells on the Mountain Trolls until they begin to charge at you. They’ll be stunned and take a lot more damage for a brief period if you evade and they collide against a wall.
Before planning to attack, make sure to learn about the attack patterns of the trolls. This includes their charge attack which is impossible to block so dodging is the best tactic. The rock-throw attack of the troll can be countered and blocked by Protego and finally, a troll’s combo attack is a risk-reward move.
Make sure to keep your distance while attacking a troll as they can be a dominating enemy type. Firstly, make sure to counter the charged attack by baiting the troll into any obstacle, for example, a wall. The troll gets stunned for a while which gives the player a small window to unleash attacks. As mentioned above, once the rock throw is blocked, there is a chance to “rock throw” at the troll itself.
Similarly, the troll gets stunned and can be attacked freely. Lastly, as the troll uses its club to smash the ground, use the Flipendo spell to use their club against them. This is one of the highest damaging attacks and can reduce a trolls health massively. Follow these steps to overwhelm a troll and beat it in a fight. There are other spells that take a troll out immediately like Avada Kedavra and Imperio. Good to master these skills to effectively beat Hogwarts Legacy Trolls.
