Elden Ring has a plethora of challenges and fights. Boss fights have always been the best in the game. There are various bosses that you need to fight in certain levels to progress in Elden Ring. Some bosses are optional, some are non-optional, and some are secret bosses. Astel, Naturalborn of the Void is one of the toughest bosses and is also an optional boss. Astel spawns in Grand Cloister and you need to defeat the Astel boss to complete both Moonlight Altar and Ranni the Witch’s questline in the game. You should visit the underground of Ainsel River and move towards the lake of rot and find Astel in its zone.
Astel has a variety of moves just like the other Elden Ring bosses. The legendary boss is highly vulnerable against Spirit Ashes. You can either play solo or join hands with others to defeat the Astel boss. Astel boss drops Runes and Remembrance of the Naturalborn as rewards after the battle ends. Elden Ring Astel Boss Fight Guide
After crossing the Lake of Rot zone, you will find the boss in his area. Astel is a gravity type boss and deals magical and standard damage. You need to equip a Longbow with arrows, Terra Magica, Comet Azur and Rock Sling Sorceries, Scarlet Rod, Poison Effect Mimic Tear, Flask of Wondrous Physick and Poison Effects. And avoid using sleep, frostbite and madness effects against the Astel boss for this battle as the boss is immune to these effects.
Phase 1
Astel boasts a variety of moves and the boss starts the battle with laser attacks. You need to dodge his heavy attacks and block his other effects. Astel has a special power of teleporting and inflicting AoE damage. You need to move out from the purple circle zone which is an AoE explosion. The AoE explosion and damage can take away your health and energy in a second, so you always need to be tentative of the same.
Astel unleashes Laser beam attacks, and a wave of projectiles is charged toward you. Dodge them quickly. His gravity attacks are faster and they are indicated by purple lightning. Use your Rock Sling sorcery and poison effects to block these moves. Poison effects can stop the boss’ attacks for a while and you can utilize this time to stun him.
Then you can activate the scarlet rod and poison effect and attack Astel with your Longbow. Utilize tanky spirit, for this mimic tear ashes will be your best option. Dodge Astel’s laser beam, meteor moves, grab attacks, melee attacks, and shock waves by blocking them. Use your bow and throw poison effects to reduce the boss’ health. After a while, the boss unleashes a comic laser effect and you need to move away from the spot immediately without getting any damage. Keep dealing more damage and the battle against Astel moves to the next and final phase once you reduce half his health bar.
Phase 2
You can implement the same strategy against Astel for phase 2. Here you can use the poison effects with other weapons to overcome his laser attacks. Astel runs forward to grab you, make sure to move to your right. His laser projectiles can kill you in a short or two, you can counter these laser attacks with a Mimic Tear once again. Then unleash arrow shots again to deal more damage.
Whenever Astel teleports, the attacks will be faster and the boss can also attack from air. You need to stun Astel with a bow and Terra Magica Sorceries. Astel launches a shock wave where there will be fire flames and projectiles, these can cause massive damage to you. Avoid the shock waves and waves of darkness projectiles by dodging them. Mix Mimic Tear and Scarlet Rod again, and use the Flask of Wondrous Physick item to last for a longer time. Keep dealing more damage and fire your arrow shots with poison to overcome his gravity attacks. The arrow shots always have the best damage percentage in second phase and you can utilize them as much as you can.
Inflict more damage in the last stage and use mimic tear with arrow shots. Dodge and block its laser attacks to stay intact without losing health and energy. Keep attacking and deal more damage for a couple of minutes. Once Astel collapses down on the ground, you can collect rewards as drops.
