Ricochet brought out the Eddie Guerrero in him on WWE Raw
WWE Raw had all the makings of a great show with the Draft still alive and kicking. There were some big teams and names drafted between the two main brands, but Ricochet captured the imagination of the WWE Universe with one spot.
The high-flyer took on Cedric Alexander with the rider that he would join the Hurt Business if he lost.
There was another major surprise on Raw and here are the hits and misses from this week’s show.
Misses
1) Lana’s redemption
Everyone loves a redemption story, especially when the underdog comes out on top. That is exactly what we saw on Raw as Lana stunned the universe by getting a title shot against Asuka.
She won the Battle Royal after being dumped by Natalya. However, it just didn’t click as much as expected.
Yes, it is great that Lana got the win but she has been targeted far too many times in recent weeks by Nia Jax.
She might get her chance at the title but it is unlikely she will be able to win the gold. WWE have made her a joke in recent weeks and hopefully, she can prove us wrong.
2) Sullivan destroys
Another WWE show, another chance for Lars Sullivan to make an impression. However, he again took out the Miz and John Morrison, though there was more fight from the Shaman of Sexy this time around.
WWE just need to book Sullivan in a match for him to get some traction. Destroying the likes of the Mi or Matt Riddle is actually hurting these stars rather than helping Sullivan.
Hits
1) Viva la Raza
Ricochet vs Cedric Alexander was a treat but the finish was fun too. It was the late, great, Eddie Guerrero’s birthday recently and Ricochet brought that out in the end.
He faked a steel chair shot at him and threw it at Alexander. The referee bought the injury and rang the bell for the match to end.
While Ricochet will not be attacked by the Hurt Business any more, it was great to see WWE keeping Guerrero in mind.
2) They are here
Alexa Bliss is officially with The Fiend as the pair attacked Andrade and Zelina Vega.
The fun bit in all this was seeing Bliss go the full Sister Abigail on Vega. This included the weird upside-down bit near the ring corner and then waiting before hitting the finisher.
It will be interesting to see what is up for the pair but they could dominate and terrorise Raw for a while.
3) My name is
Elias. Yup, the WWE star finally made his return as he attacked Jeff Hardy with his guitar. Elias was attacked by an unknown star as Hardy was blamed and arrested.
While it isn’t clear who attacked Elias, the star believes it was Hardy and attacked The Charismatic Enigma.
WWE Creative is often slated for not following up on storylines, but this was one that they didn’t forget.
Credit must be given to them and hopefully, they can build on this for a while.
