Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is releasing on the next-gen consoles and here is all you need to know about this update

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is an action-adventure game developed by the British studio Ninja Theory. It is set in a dark fantasy world that is inspired by Norse mythology.

The game is a blend of several genres including hack and slash, puzzle solving and psychological horror. The game was first released in August 2017 for PC and PlayStation 4. It was released for Xbox One in 2018 and in 2019 it was released for the Nintendo Switch.

The game’s voice-over narrative serves as a metaphor for the character’s struggle with psychosis. Senua suffers from the condition but believes it to be a curse. She believes that she is haunted by an entity known as the “Darkness” and calls the voices in her head “Furies.” The game has interesting gameplay which is completely new.

The story is told through voiceover from the perspective of the Furies and Druth, Senua’s friend. The game doesn’t have the classic tutorial but instead, the voice-over gives tips to the player.

The Furies are aware of the player’s presence and sometimes also break the fourth wall. We understand Senua’s story as the game progress through her hallucinations. The developers have purposefully left some parts of the story unanswered. This is an interesting choice as the players are also questioning which of the hallucinations were real.

Hellblade next-gen update Ray Tracing

Senua’s Sacrifice has been optimized for the next-gen consoles Xbox Series X|S. The game will be playable on the next-gen consoles with Ray Tracing at 30 fps. The players will be able to play the game in 4k and 1440p at 60 fps.

The developers have also confirmed that Ray Tracing will be available for PC soon. Ray Tracing is an amazing technology that is used in games and movies.

It is a rendering technique for generating an image by tracing the path of light as pixels in an image plane and simulating the effects of its encounters with virtual objects. Basically, it gives the game a more realistic feel. But it is also very heavy on the hardware.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice will be playable on the next-gen consoles Xbox SeriesX|S. A sequel to the game was also announced in 2019. It will be released for the Xbox next-gen consoles and PC.
