Go for him Rodgers – Celtic making a move to sign this Premier League striker would be a sensible idea

Celtic have been a force to reckon with in Scottish football. But their dominant form is yet to be replicated in the European stage.

Last season, The Hoops completed a historic double treble. It was the first time either of the Scottish giants – Celtic or their bitter rivals Rangers – had won the League Championship, FA Cup and League Cup for two consecutive seasons.

Despite the domestic success, Celtic failed to qualify out of their UEFA Champions League group that featured the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Anderlecht. In fact, Celtic only managed to record a solitary 3-0 away win at Anderlecht.

Hence, Celtic need an upturn in their European form and to achieve that, the Hoops need a goalscorer like Batshuayi.

The Chelsea striker certainly fits the bill and Brendan Rodgers must aim to build a team around the phenomenal player. His presence could also propel the likes of Dembele and Griffiths to perform better.

Despite all his skills, Batshuayi was in the periphery at Chelsea until January. Once Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang joined Arsenal, the Belgian moved to Borussia Dortmund on a loan deal until the end of the season.

That proved to be beneficial for the forward since he struggled to play regularly under Antonio Conte, starting just 3 Premier League games with 9 cameos. His move to the Bundesliga was a masterstroke which saw Batshuayi score 7 goals in 10 matches. With that, he had done enough to earn himself a call-up to Belgium’s squad for the ongoing World Cup in Russia.

Going forward, Batshuayi is unlikely to receive a guarantee for first-team football at Chelsea. Thus, a move to Celtic could be a great move for the talented attacker.

A permanent sale would probably be out of the question since the Hoops only recently broke their own transfer record as they shelled out €10million to capture Odsonne Edouard from PSG.

Furthermore, a loan deal would require Chelsea to pay a huge chunk of his €90,000-a-week salary. Currently, the likes of Scott Sinclair, Scott Brown and Moussa Dembele are earning in the region of €25,000-a-week and they are the highest-paid Celtic players.

Thus, Celtic must do everything they can to sign Batshuayi on a loan deal this summer.
