Gilbert Burns MMA Career and UFC record

Gilbert Burns made his MMA debut in February 2012 in a promotion called Crown Fighting Championships.

He then moved to his home country where he fought in several promotions. And, by May 2014, he was 7-0 up in his MMA career.

This got him a chance in the UFC. And he made his UFC debut on the 26th of July in 2014. He faced Andreas Stahl and earned a comfortable unanimous decision victory. Following his win he moved to the lightweight division after starting out as a welterweight.

His first defeat in the UFC, came at the hands of Rashid Magomedov in November 2015. He then bounced back with a victory over Lukasz Sajewski.

Burns once again faced a setback as he lost to Michael Prazeres in his next fight.

By April 2018, Burns had an impressive record of 13 wins and 2 losses. He had never been finished until then.

Then came Dan Hooker. Burns was knocked out cold by a flurry of punches from Hooker at UFC 226, which was a huge setback in his career.

Durinho showed remarkable bouncebackability, as he stitched 6 consecutive victories, while also returning to the welterweight division in his 19th fight.

His 6 fight win streak came to an end when he lost to Kamaru Usman at UFC 258, in a failed bid to capture the welterweight title.

He then lost to Khamzat Chimaev in April 2022 before getting a win over Neil Magny and Jorge Masvidal in January and April 2023 respectively.

Burns’ MMA record currently stands at 22 wins and just 5 losses.
