French Open prize money: Rafael Nadal beat Casper Ruud in the final of the 2022 Roland Garros, but how much did the Spaniard earn for his win?
Earlier on Sunday, Rafael Nadal won a record-extending 14th Roland Garros title. The veteran tennis star has now won 22 major Grand Slams and it took him two further than arch-rivals Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer, both of whom have 20 titles each.
Nadal flaunted his brilliance in the final of the French Open as he crushed Ruud in the final of the clay tournament. Nadal beat his Norwegian opponent in straight sets 6-3 6-3 6-0 to cap off another stunning French Open win. He has now won 112 matches at the Roland Garros and lost only three times at the major tournament since making his debut in 2005.
Whilst many fans sent their congratulations and well-wishes to Nadal on his victory, some were keen to know the prize money that the Spaniard won during the course of the tournament.
How much prize money will Rafael Nadal earn from winning French Open?
According to reports, Nadal will earn a whopping €2.2 million for winning the 2022 French Open title. The runner-up, Casper Ruud, will take home around €1.1 million, which is half of what the victor receives.
Although Nadal will be raking in a small fortune for his victory at the Roland Garros this year, it only dwarfs what he has earned throughout his tennis career. Over the past 17 years, Nadal has won a lucrative $128,337,592 in prize money at tennis tournaments.
