Fred honesty paints a grim picture of Pogba and United

The Brazilian midfielder has pointed out issues pertaining to vanity and self-obsession at the club as Manchester United’s struggle continue.

Fred

A couple of days back, Manchester United midfielder, Fred openly stated that there is an element of vanity within the dressing room while also admitting that the team has a lot of problems.

“We need to improve as a group, our group lacks the ‘sticking together mentality’, we have lots of problems,” he told .

“There’s always some discussions within the group. [There is] a little vanity, yes, as there is in most groups.

“We must stop this, we should talk less in the dressing room and start running on the pitch. When everyone has the same goal, that’s when we’ll move forward.

“We need to be on the same page and today some players have different objectives, there are players that just want to solve problems alone and this is wrong.”

Even with , few punters count on Manchester United,  Currently mired in 8th place in the league standings and six points behind fourth placed Chelsea, the Red Devils really need to start getting their act together if they are to avoid missing out on Champions League football for the second consecutive season.

When Sir Alex Ferguson left the club some six years ago, it was thought that the club was going to be in transition but nobody imagined the process to take that long. Already three managers have come and gone and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could become the fourth to have been given the boot.

However, the club’s biggest issues lie not only in a manager’s ability to get the best out of the squad but also how it is being run off the field.

While has really taken a lot of heat for his inability to get transfers across the line, one also has to go back to Fred’s statements. While the Brazilian may not have been at the club for a long time, he does have a point.

A lot of players at the club are clearly not up to the standard that was required of player’s from a bygone era.

Paul Pogba for instance, has shown himself to be a super talented player who has been indulged so much by the ownership and his agent that he has the audacity of posting how good his life has been while he was injured.

The French World Cup winner has been agitating for a move for a very long time and his actions clearly point out to a man who is just waiting for the season to be over so that he can finally get his latest dream move.

In past, players have left Manchester United and have done well there. The main difference from that era is that players who wanted to leave the club, mostly didn’t let their wishes come between their performances on the field.

When Cristiano Ronaldo requested Sir Alex Ferguson to allow him to join Real Madrid, the great Scot convinced him to stay at Old Trafford for one more year and then leave. The manager blocking his move didn’t hamper the Portugal international’s ability to remain the club’s star man.

Even though it has been a long time since he left, has always been welcomed back by the club’s fans.

In similar fashion, the likes of Wayne Rooney, Phil Neville, Darren Fletcher and Michael Keane left the club but the manner of their departures was professional and courteous.

The same cannot be said of Pogba who is doing his best to leave the club in the worst possible way.

While there is no doubting his potential, Pogba has shown himself to be a player whose inability to move on from minor setbacks and to focus on his performances regardless of what color he’s playing for clearly show that this was a situation the club could have avoided all those years ago.

And perhaps, Sir Alex Ferguson’s decision to not bow down to his agent’s demands all those years ago was the right one all along.
