F1 legend Michael Schumacher, Mick’s dad turned 53 on the 3rd of January, 2022

F1 great Michael Schumacher turned 53 on the 3rd of January. The seven-time world driver’s championship winner hasn’t made a public appearance ever since suffering a life-altering skiing accident on the 29th of December, 2013 (with his son Mick Schumacher).

Michael had been on life support for an extended period of time. He slowly began gaining consciousness and is currently much better compared to the early days of his accident. But, he still struggles to communicate and is believed to have memory problems.

On his birthday, his son Mick who followed his dad’s footsteps and made it to Formula 1, penned an emotional message on Twitter.

He wrote:

“Happy Birthday, Dad…Days like these were important to my growing passion for Motorsport, and still affect it to this day. I am grateful for all the experiences you have given me and I’m excited to be making new ones in the future.”

Mick Schumacher optimistic about the future

Mick Schumacher’s Haas F1 Team might have finished last in the 2021 F1 season, but he sure has a lot of takeaways from a memorable year. In fact, it was his first year in Formula 1.

In a recent interview, Mick sounded optimistic about the future:

“Obviously, we’re trying to push hard to get close to Williams. I think that, by the end of this year, we really closed the gap quite a bit. We’re closer to Alfa [Romeo], closer to Williams, and that’s something we really didn’t expect this year. So overall, we’re quite happy with it.” [via Sports Rush]
