Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen were involved in a crash in the 26th lap of Italian GP at Monza

Monza, as usual, was no short of drama, with championship contenders Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen getting involved in a crash – lap 26 of the Italian GP.

Verstappen had pitted earlier, and Mercedes’ Hamilton pitted a bit late. Just as Hamilton exited the pit lane, he was involved in a coming together with Hamilton at Turn 2.

The Dutchman’s Red Bull was over the Mercedes, and had there been no Halo, Hamilton’s life would have been in grave danger.

There were no words exchanged between the two drivers, as Verstappen stormed off to the pits following his crash.

Hamilton, made his way out of the car, after a while, well after his rival left.

It is worth noting that, Hamilton would have made it to P1, if he hadn’t crashed.

Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen fans collide on Twitter

Twitter was unbelievably divided (but as expected) following the crash. Known for its toxicity, Twitter was laden with tremendous expletives aimed at the respective drivers.

There were a few who pointed out that the Halo saved Hamilton’s life as well.
