Carlos Sainz started from P19 at the 2021 Turkish GP and finished at P8 to win the Driver of the Day

Carlos Sainz of Ferrari put on a stunning drive on a wet Istanbul Park track at the 2021 Turkish GP.

The Spaniard started in the very last row at P19. However, he didn’t let that affect his confidence, as he steered his way through efficiently to finish at P8.

His brilliant drive saw him win the driver of the day. Sainz came in first with 25.7% of the votes.

Sergio Perez, who played a brilliant role in hindering Hamilton from going further (finished P3), received 14.8% of the votes and finished 2nd.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc received 10.6% of the votes and closed out the top 3.

Leclerc was closely followed by Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton (10.5% and 10.3% of the votes).

There was no room for Max Verstappen (finished P2) in the Driver of the Day Standings.

Max Verstappen leads Lewis Hamilton by 6 points

Starting at P11, due to a grid penalty, Hamilton couldn’t gain more than 6 places, as he ended up finishing 5th.

Having led Max Verstappen by 2 points prior to the race, Hamilton found himself 6 points adrift off the top after the conclusion of the 2021 Turkish GP.

Verstappen finished second, only behind Valtteri Bottas.

With only a few races left, the tension in the atmosphere will be unreal.
