Can Christian Eriksen help Chelsea win the Premier League title?

The Express has revealed that Chelsea are targeting a massive move for both Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino and superstar Christian Eriksen. While the Blues could possibly lose Eden Hazard over the summer, with Real Madrid and Barcelona interested, a move for the Tottenham playmaker could just be the answer they need.

The club has already signed Christian Pulisic in the January window and the US international will arrive after his six-month loan spell with Borussia Dortmund. However, given how good Eriksen is, not many team would not want him in their squad. His ability in and around the final third is exceptional with consistency.

The Tottenham star has been in great form over the last few seasons, ending last season having assisted 27 goals, 35 goals the season before, and so on and so forth. If it’s stats that you want to confirm whether or not adding Eriksen would be a great move for Chelsea, then it’s all there, the number of key passes, his assists and the goals scored amongst others. He’s been nothing short of brilliant for Spurs, which is why it’s no surprise why the Blues are after him.

That being said, the 26-year-old flourishes as a number 10, sitting behind the striker, where he does his best work on a football pitch. Unlike Eden Hazard, who is a winger, the Danish international does have the ability to play on the wings, however, his effectiveness decreases the wider he goes. This means that if Chelsea do bring him in, then there is a very slight chance he’ll fit into Maurizio Sarri’s 4-3-3 formation with three central midfielders.

But ESPN has reported that Mauricio Pochettino is also being targeted by the Stamford Bridge club if Sarri doesn’t impress in the next six months. If anything, the Argentine boss has managed to get the best out of Christian Eriksen over the past few years and prefers a 4-2-3-1 formation, which has a space for an attacking midfielder like Eriksen.

That being said, while losing Eden Hazard will be a humongous blow to Chelsea, it is in no way a reason to drop everything and add Christian Eriksen. Sarri is here for a long-term project and sacking him barely a year after spending so much money post-appointing him makes no sense whatsoever.
