It is far from the end of the road for Fred at Manchester United
Manchester City, AS Roma and even AC Milan (h/t Goal), wanted the Brazilian but in the end, Fred joined Jose Mourinho and Manchester United. His start to the 2018/19 showed exactly why the former Manchester United boss did everything to bring him in but everything has gone downhill since then.
The 25-year-old struggled to adapt to the physicality and speed of the Premier League getting caught out more than once. The next 15 games saw the Brazilian miss 9 games, playing just five after Matchday 3. This prompted comments about Mourinho’s recruitment over the summer, among other issues. Questions were also raised about the 25-year-old and his performances with Fred struggling in even the Champions League.
But now with Mourinho gone and Gunnar Solksjar taking over, can the 25-year-old revive his Manchester United career? He has six months with the interim boss, and if Solksjar keeps trusting him, there is a good chance Fred repays that trust. The talent is there, of that there is no question what is lacking, however, is the confidence that a manager should have in his stars.
That’s something Mourinho could give his players when things were going well but also make it disappear when things weren’t going well. That’s one of the main reasons for the rift between him and many former stars including Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and a few others to name. Could things get even worse for Fred?
Of course, it can but at the moment the 25-year-old is at rock bottom and needs to find the confidence to climb out of that hole he has dug for himself.
Not just to prove his abilities in the Premier League but also to all the critics and fans who said he won’t ever make it. If he can’t, there’s always the summer window, and while Manchester United won’t recoup the £52 million fee, but they might give the 25-year old a new lease on life.

However, given his resilence and abilities on the field, it is hard to believe that the Brazilian won’t make it at Old Trafford. His passing combined with his talent to dictate play is something the Red Devils need, ever since Micheal Carrick retired. Furthermore, he can perfectly complement both Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic in the midfield.
