Why Ryan Giggs is the ideal manager to take charge of Manchester United

It’s been five years since Manchester United last won the Premier League. The last time did they so, it was during Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season. Although their second-place finish last year was their best league finish since Sir Alex’s departure, the gap between them and champions Manchester City was too huge.

It has been no different this season for the Red Devils. United endured a terrible start to the season with two losses from their first four games – a tragedy they last faced during the 1992/93 season.

With two wins and two losses, United currently sit 10th in the Premier League table. In fact, it doesn’t look like Jose Mourinho’s men will be pushing Manchester City and other top teams for the Premier League crown. Under the current circumstances, a top-four finish would be an ideal result for the club.

Now, there is a club legend who could take over the managerial role – and that is Ryan Giggs. It’s true that the Welshman is currently managing his national team but returning to Manchester United wouldn’t be a bad idea. Furthermore, he did take charge of the club temporarily when David Moyes was sacked.

The 44-year-old compiled an impressive record during his tenure as the player-manager with two wins, a draw and a defeat in the final four games of the season. He was also appointed Louis Van Gaal’s assistant when the Dutchman took charge in the 2014/15 season.

If someone can replicate Sir Alex’s successes, it should be none one other than Ryan Giggs. He is well-versed in the methods of achieving success by playing for the legendary manager. Giggs was a part of Sir Alex’s 26-year journey at the club. He came up from the academy ranks and became one of the best footballers, which could not have been possible without the manager’s helping hand.

During his time as the player-manager, he fearless handed debuts to rookies Tom Lawrence, James Wilson and held himself back to appear as a substitute for the former. The 44-year-old has looked impressive since taking over the Wales national team.

Conclusion

Given that Manchester United haven’t been able to push for the league title for quite some time, the board should consider Ryan Giggs as an option to take charge in the near future. He is a legend at the club and his level of acceptability among the players and the fans is unquestionable.
