Rawkus joins Sentinels Valorant team as Head Coach

published

The best team in North America is finally getting a coach! The Sentinels Valorant team has just signed on Rawkus to be their head coach.

Sentinels recruited a new VALORANT head coach, Shane “Rawkus” Flaherty, from the FaZe Clan squad, ahead of their VCT Champions run. Prior to this signing, the Sentinels had been competing in VALORANT without an official head coach, with in-game leader Shahzeb “ShahZaM” Khan calling most of the shots.

Previously, Sentinels had played all two Valorant masters that had been held till now. They qualified for the Champions after winning the first Valorant masters, which were held in Iceland. The team participated without a coach on both occasions, although they currently have one. So, here’s everything you need to know about Rawkus, the new coach of Sentinel’s Valorant roster. FaZe Rawkus

Rawkus, a former Overwatch League pro with the Houston Outlaws, has been playing the Sova main role with FaZe Clan since August 2020, when he and Andrej “babybay” Francisty were acquired to complete their squad.

At the start of the season, FaZe Clan was one of the best teams in North America. They defeated 100 Thieves 3-0 to win the VCT NA Stage 1 Challengers 3 event. FaZe Clan finished second in the VCT NA Stage 1 Masters event, but were defeated 0-3 in the grand final by Sentinels.

Sentinels Valorant Team

Rawkus will take over a Valorant team that is already widely regarded as one of the greatest in the world. The Sentinels have a wealth of quality at every position, led by Jett ace Tyson ‘TenZ’ Ngo. Rawkus, along with IGL Shahzeb ‘ShahZaM’ Khan, will be responsible for adding to the team’s playbook while facing international competition.

Michael “dapr” Gulino is an incredible sentinel who can hold a bomb site all on his own. Similarly, Jared “zombs” Gitlin is the controller player for Sentinels. The combination of both these players to hold a bomb site frees the other three members of the team to play aggressively. Hunter “SicK” Mims plays a variety of support roles with agents like Sage, Skye and Pheonix.

Current Faze Valorant Roster

After Hunter “BabyJ” Schline announced his departure from FaZe on November 2, this is the organization’s second VALORANT exit in less than a week. Andrej “babybay” Francisty, Corey “corey” Nigra, and Zachary “ZachaREEE” Lombardo, as well as former CS:GO pro-turned-coach Joshua “JDM” Marzano, make up the current FaZe lineup.

It will be exciting to see the true strength of the Sentinels Valorant team as the IGL is now free to shift his focus completely on that role. This will certainly make them a tough competitor at the Valorant Champions Tour in Berlin.
