The official lap record for the current Grand Prix circuit layout is 1:18.149, set by Max Verstappen driving for Red Bull Racing in the 2021 Spanish Grand Prix.

When it comes to the other teams on the F1 grid at present, only Red Bull (4) and Alfa Romeo (3) have registered wins at this circuit. Meanwhile, former F1 team ‘Lotus’ have 7 wins to their name at this Grand Prix.

How does the Constructors’ and Drivers’ Championship look like ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix?

Red Bull continues to dominate the drivers’ championship standings following another top-of-the-podium finish for Max Verstappen in Monaco. They have made a fantastic start to the season and earlier recorded 1-2 finishes in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Miami and Azerbaijan besides a top-of-the-podium finish in Australia.

Verstappen leads the standings with 144 points followed by his team-mate Sergio Perez, who occupies the second spot with 105 points. Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso lies in the third spot with 93 points – ahead of Lewis Hamilton, George Russell and Carlos Sainz.

In the constructors’ championship, the picture is no different. Defending champions Red Bull are miles ahead of the pack having accumulated 249 points. Aston Martin are significantly behind in second place, having earned 120 points from six races so far. Mercedes are placed third in the leaderboard with 119 points in their kitty – a whopping 130 points behind the leaders.
