The fastest pitstop of the season came at the Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne in the recently concluded Australian GP

Albert Park witnessed the fastest pitstop of the 2022 F1 season. Red Bull F1 team were at their efficient best, managing to have a successful pitstop of a meagre 2.21 seconds. The timing is quicker than any of the pitstops registered before in Bahrain and Jeddah. With this timing, Red Bull overtakes the previous fastest pitstop of the season of 2.31 seconds managed by McLaren.

Red Bull has always been known to be a team that can perform pitstops to perfection. They have done it once again, with their efficient pitstop work helping Sergio Perez to finish on the podium in second place. McLaren have been doing well in pitstops too and managed to pull off two identical pitstops of 2.42 seconds in Melbourne for Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo.

Red Bull continue to struggle with technical issues

Despite being efficient in pitstops, Red Bull are yet to find a solution for their technical woes which primarily includes car over-heating mostly as a result of engine issues. Red Bull F1 team have already suffered three DNFs this season. Last season, Red Bull used Honda engine which turned out to be really successful. The Japanese outfit have however called time on their F1 return and Red Bull switched to in-house Red Bull Powertrains for their engine development.

Red Bull are using their brand new RB18 car which has been built to comply with F1’s overhauled technical regulations for 2022. It replaces the RB16B, Verstappen’s championship-winning car. The striking new features in RB18 are larger wheels, low-profile tyres and swept wings. The car is heavier compared to previous versions, which is a common feature among all F1 2022 cars. RB18 is powered by an updated version of the Honda engine which was used last season. The V6 turbo hybrid has been renamed as the ‘Red Bull Powertrains’ after Honda’s departure from F1.

Whatever the issues are, Red Bull will be desperate to sort them out very soon if they are to challenge run-away leaders Ferrari for the Constructors’ championship title.
