Ferrari are struggling to catch up Red Bull and fans are not happy that the team is not working on modifications
Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto insists there is no need for the team to change their approach when the second half of the season kicks off in Belgium and this has not gone down well with the fans. The Scuderia are chasing a first drivers’ title since Kimi Raikkonen won it back in 2007, with a whole succession of top-level drivers coming and going since then without managing a successful tilt at the trophy – including Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel.
“There’s nothing to change, I think it’s always a matter of confidence, learning, building, building experience, building skills,” Binotto said after the Hungarian Grand Prix when asked what might need to happen for the team to capitalise on their often-superior race pace. This is Binotto’s fourth season in charge – and despite mounting pressure, exacerbated by a string of poor strategy calls and dubious reliability, he remains confident his team are on the right path. The championship fight resumes at the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps at the end of August and Binotto has made it clear that there won’t be any massive changes, when it comes to Ferrari.
Angry fans react to Binotto’s ‘complacent’ attitude on Twitter

“He’s at the denial stage of grief”, wrote a fan, who is clearly not happy with the state of affairs at Ferrari.
“yeah, don’t change ur approach if u don’t wanna win the championship”, wrote another fan.
“And this is why Ferrari haven’t won a championship in fifteen years”, tweeted another enraged fan.
“Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is? Insanity is doing the exact… same f****g thing… over and over again, expecting… shit to change”, read another tweet.

Binotto did find a bit of support though, with some fans taking a stand for him. “As a Ferrari fan I’m disgusted by your comment. In all my years as F1 and Ferrari fan I’ve never seen a boss better than Mattia Binotto and I think he’s the best team principal we ever have had. Back him and trust the process. We can still do this! We are Ferrari! FORZA FERRARI!”, wrote a fan, replying to the critics.
