Carlos Sainz and the rest of the F1 fraternity paid their tributes after Patrick Tambay passed away aged 73

Former French F1 driver and two-time Grand Prix winner, Patrick Tambay recently passed away at the age of 73. During his F1 career, Tambay drove for top teams like Ferrari, Renault and McLaren. The Frenchman was suffering for a long time from Parkinson’s disease and died last night after a cardiac arrest.

Tributes poured in from across the F1 fraternity after the news of Tambay’s demise was confirmed by his family. Tambay was strongly connected to his former team, Ferrari and the team paid their humble tribute on Twitter: “We are all truly saddened by the news of the passing of Patrick Tambay. He was one of the true stars of the 80s winning two races with the Scuderia and contributing to winning the Manufacturers’ titles in 1982 and 1983.” Ferrari F1 driver Carlos Sainz also took to Twitter to convey his thoughts. “Saddened by the death of Patrick Tambay, sending a really big hug to his family and friends”, he wrote.
