Teenager Ollie Gray to compete in the 2022 British F4 Championship with Carlin
Ollie Gray enjoyed a stellar debut season in British F4 with two wins and secured two pole position finishes. He later went on to compete in the Italian F4 Championship. Gray had a successful junior career claiming multiple Motorsport UK and the British Kart Championship titles at the X30 junior level before finishing as vice-champion in the 2019 IAME Euro series.
Gray is delighted to have joined the Williams Racing Academy. The teenager said, “Today is a special day in my career as I can officially say I am part of Williams. Williams is a team with so much history and success in F1 and I hope to one day be able to add to that.” The Brit further added, “As I begin working with my team, my immediate goals are to develop as a driver both on and off the track, as well focus on my 2022 season. I can’t wait to get started.” “There are lots of people who have played a role in my motorsport career so far and I would like to thank everyone, particularly Sven, Jost, and the team at Williams Racing for their belief in me“, said the youngster from Surrey.
Williams F1 team all set for the pre-season running in Bahrain
Williams have announced their line up for the Bahrain test. The days have been split between their two drivers Alexander Albon and Nicholas Latifi. Albon will drive on Thursday morning and the afternoons on Friday Saturday while Latifi will do the exact opposite. Williams had a good first test in Circuit de Catalunya, Barcelona with the team completing 347 laps on the clock. The Bahrain test will take place on 10-12 March.
Williams finished in 8th spot, earning 23 points in the 2021 Constructors’ Championship. The team will be looking to better that performance this season and has shown really positive signs in the pre-season test in Barcelona.
Williams has won the Constructors’ Championship 9 times in the past but they have all come in the pre 2000 era. If UK based team are to finish in the top 5 this season a lot will depend on their drivers – Alexander Albon and Nicholas Latifi. The Bahrain test gives an opportunity to the teams and drivers to improve further before the lights go out for the season opener on March 20 – the Bahrain Grand Prix.
