The late Philippe Streiff was a French professional racing driver and has a podium finish to his name in F1
Martin Brundle took to Twitter to pay homage to his close friend and former F1 driver Philippe Streiff, who passed away last night at the age of 67. During his career, Streiff started in 55 Grands Prix, registering one podium finish and accumulating 11 Championship points. In Formula One, Streiff drove for teams like Renault, Ligier and Tyrell.
Streiff’s former team-mate at the Tyrell F1 team was heartbroken after the news of the Frenchman’s death was circulated. In an emotional tweet, Brundle wrote: “Sad to hear this about my former team mate Philippe. Lovely guy, and very stylish in and out of the car. I remember that day clearly when we were testing in Rio and he had his crash. The red flag followed by the medivac heli. Different days.” F1 President and CEO, Stefano Domenicali also paid tribute to the departed Frenchman. “He showed incredible guts and determination throughout his life. The way he overcame his accident and rebuilt his life was inspirational. We all send our condolences to his family at this sad time”, said Domenicali.
