Frederic Vasseur is the current CEO and Team Principal of Switzerland-based F1 team Alfa Romeo racing. He is currently considered as the favourite to replace Mattia Binotto after the Italian resigned from his post of Team Principal at Ferrari F1 team. Vasseur has a long career in motorsport and has previously been the Team Principal of Renault and Sauber F1 teams.
Vasseur’s long career in motorsport began in 1996 when he founded the ASM team which won the French Formula 3 Championship with Renault. In 2004, he joined Nicolas Todt to form the ART Grand Prix team that won the GP2 Series championship with Nico Rosberg in 2005 and Lewis Hamilton in 2006. His next venture was in the Formula E series with Spark Racing Technology.
The Frenchman’s journey in F1 began in 2016 joined Renault Sport as team principal of the newly formed Renault Sport Formula One Team during the 2016 Formula One season. However, he resigned at the end of the season and joined Sauber F1 team as Managing Director and CEO in 2017.
