The late Syd Herbert was a close colleague of former British F1 racing driver Martin Brundle
Syd Herbert, an integral member of the Silverstone team in the United Kingdom, has passed away after a prolonged period of illness. He was associated with the operations of the Silverstone racing circuit for over 30 years from 1969 up until his retirement. Born on January 6, 1933, Herbert passed away at the age of 90 years.
Former British F1 racer, Martin Brundle bade goodbye to his long-time colleague in an emotional post on Twitter. “Another motorsport legend departs for the great racetrack in the sky. There was never any doubt as to who was in charge on a Silverstone track day, however important you or your team thought they were. Farewell Syd, top man”, he wrote. Brundle and Herbert worked closely together for more than two decades.
