Ferrari have announced they will give equal status to Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz in the 2022 season

Ferrari are hoping to get back to winning ways in the 2022 season. The season is just under three months away and the team has already revealed the status of their races. According to the team, both Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc will have an equal status in the team.

However, based upon the results that they produced they will certainly decide to whom to favor. Often times, a racer has to give up his position in the race to support their teammate who has a better position in the standings. And Ferrari have made it known that this decision will be based upon the performances of their racers.

Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto said (h/t Autosport):

“In terms of drivers, as we have often said, I think it is the track that will dictate it. The priority is always the team, but no doubt, if they can compete for an important position in the championship, it will be the track that will tell who’s ahead. And sometimes, I think it’s not only about driver talent or driver capacity. A driver can be a lot unfortunate, and have damage, reliability issues, or crashes. So I don’t think that we need at this stage, and certainly we will not have a policy, of number one or number two. We will simply discuss it based on positions on track whenever it will be time.”

Ferrari have been backed by many to comeback to their usual winning ways in the upcoming 2022 season. With the lack of recent success in Formula One, it is ever so important for the team to make a statement in the upcoming season.
