The Belgian Grand Prix is scheduled to take place from 26-28 August at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps–how is the weather there?
F1 action returns this weekend after the month-long F1 summer break and fans will have a close eye on the weather. We would hate a repeat of 2021 where rain played spoilsport on race day and as of now, things look good for this year. Let us now take a detailed look at the weather forecast for this weekend’s Belgian GP.
There was a lot of disappointment in 2021 at Spa, as heavily rain-shortened the race on Sunday, with just a few laps completed by the drivers behind the safety car. The Belgian Grand Prix finished late into the evening amid torrential conditions at Spa-Francorchamps and Half points were awarded as over two laps but less than 75% of the race was completed. However, this year, we can expect a complete race.
Some wet conditions may affect the Belgian Grand Prix weekend, especially given the unpredictable weather at Spa-Francorchamps. Temperatures are not expected to climb past 22-23 degrees Celsius on any day of running in Belgium and Friday practice should take place on a dry track, but rain may spice things up in the qualifying session on Saturday and the main event on Sunday.
Thunderstorms are expected close to the circuit and while there shouldn’t be long periods of rain, there could be heavy showers in the area, although it remains to be seen if they will indeed affect the track action at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
