Aston Martin announced their driver line-up for 2022 season

It has been made official that Aston Martin F1 team will retain the driver line-up of Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll for the 2022 season. Aston Martin F1 team announced the news on Twitter stating:

“CONFIRMED: Lance Stroll & Sebastian Vettel to continue with Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team in 2022.”

Vettel was signed by Aston Martin this year. The four time world champions carries a bag of expectations everywhere he goes whereas Stroll still has a long way ahead of him. The owner of the team Lawrence Stroll in a statement said:

“We are delighted to be continuing with such an excellent blend of youthful talent and experienced expertise”

Stroll is pretty optimistic with his son Lance Stroll and Vettel challenging for the title for the next season. Earlier Lawrence Stroll said that Aston Martin will win the championship in the coming years.

Where does Aston Martin F1 team currently stand?

The Aston Martin F1 team currently stands at number 7 in the constructors championship. Whereas in the Driver’s championship Vettel stands at 12th with 35 points and Stroll stands right behind at 13th with 24 points.

Vettel gave Aston Martin their only podium this year when he finished 2nd at Azerbaijan GP. The four time world champion is the second most decorated driver on the grid only behind Lewis Hamilton.

Vettel will look to make Aston Martin fight for the championships with his teammate Stroll. Stroll has shown potential but still has a long way to go before he starts making a difference in the team.
