Here’s everything you need to know about F1 Champion Max Verstappen’s extraordinary collection of cars
Max Verstappen is one of the richest athletes in the world and at the same time, the two-time F1 World Champion is very fond of owning luxurious cars. Verstappen ranks third in Forbes‘ list of highest-paid athletes aged below 25 years and has a net worth of around US$ 75 million as of 2023. The Dutch racer had total earnings of $48 million in the last financial year – $46 million on-field earnings including prize money and contract wages from Red Bull and $2 million off the track earnings which includes sponsorships and endorsements, making him the second richest F1 driver in the current grid.
Besides featuring in the top 5 richest U-25 athletes list, Verstappen also ranks 26th in Forbes’ list of highest-paid athletes. 1. Porsche 911 GT3 RS – This is one of the initial luxurious cars that Verstappen purchased after bursting on to the F1 circuit. The Porsche cost Verstappen close to US$ 400,000 back in 2016. Verstappen had just turned 18 when he purchased this and he reportedly had to ask permission from his dad, Jos before he could go ahead and buy it.
2. Aston Martin Valkyrie – Verstappen owns a number of Aston Martin cars but the Valkyrie certainly stands out. It has a maximum power of 1160bhp, 664lb-ft of torque, a Cosworth-built naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 among other unique features. The Valkyrie was developed by Red Bull’s chief technical officer Adrian Newey in collaboration with Aston Martin’s Marek Reichman and is certainly one of Verstappen’s favourite cars.
3. Ferrari Monza SP2 – Ferrari are the arch-rivals of Verstappen and his team Red Bull but that certainly didn’t stop the Dutch driver from owning this beast. It is a 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V12 that develops 800bhp and offers a 0-100km/h time of 2.9 seconds. Verstappen has owned a number of Ferraris but this one was the most expensive – costing him around £1.4 million.
4. Acura NSX Type S – Verstappen received this beast as a gift from Honda after his championship-winning 2022 season. The Acura’s 3.5-litre V6 combines with three electric motors to pump out a far-from-sluggish 593bhp. It has a four-wheel drive and a nine-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox – making driving a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing experience.
5. Renault R.S.01 – This Renault model is a one-of-a-kind car, which was built in 2014 to replace the Mégane Trophy. It is designed by using parts from various different manufacturers – the carbon fibre chassis came from Italian race car manufacturer Dallara and the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 was developed by the Renault-Nissan family. Verstappen purchased it in 2015 at an approximate price of US$ 400,000.
