Jesse Ronson picked up a $50,000 bonus in his return UFC fight
Jesse Ronson put on quite a performance on his UFC return a few months back. The 34-year-old Canadian took on Nicolas Dalby at Fight Island and won via a rear-naked choke.
However, Ronson wasn’t just given the win, he was handed the bonus too for the performance of the night.
The MMA veteran has fought and won titles in several promotions and was speaking exclusively to MMA Unhinged.
Ronson was asked about what he had done with his bonus, and the veteran revealed he had some taxes to clear out:
“I am still holding on to it. My car is still you know running, it’s still good. This money is going to allow me to catch up on taxes from previous years that I owe money on and I got to put a big chunk of it aside for taxes this year because of the amount of money I made from that fight, so, the government always wants their money.
“I really have no idea what I am going to spend it on. It is just extra money in the bank right now, it’s good to hold onto it.”
He was also asked if his return UFC win was the best moment of his career, but winning the TKO title was one of his sweetest moments.
However, he was still keen on getting more wins:
“For sure it is the sweetest moment because I have always wanted that UFC win and want to get more, we are just getting the ball rolling.
“Obviously, I want to bang out as many wins as I can and get it going. Sweetest because I have made the most money I have ever made in my f***** life.”
Two stars warned
The 34-year-old also shared his disdain for big fighters in the lighter weight classes. He couldn’t understand how some stars fit into the Lightweight division and called out Luis Pena and Jalin Turner for his next clash.
“In order to get to 6’3” and reach 155 you are eating nothing but ice cubes and lettuce. Like move up to 170, be a man, hit puberty and be at 170, 185.
“How can you be 6’3” and consider yourself a Lightweight? To me, that’s disturbing. It can’t be healthy for them to maintain that kind of bodyweight, unless they are just natural scrawny people.
“If I fought one of those two, I would break their legs with my leg kicks.”
However, Ronson still needs some time to recover from a kidney problem he has been dealing with. The 34-year-old claimed he would go full-on once he is 100% fit and also wanted that win at Las Vegas to be under his belt.
