Kasanganay didn’t get the contract last time around, but there were bigger things in store for him in LFA. He was to fight Daniel Madrid for the vacant middleweight title but that was cancelled.

However, the 26-year-old was upbeat about this cancellation and claimed it even worked in his favour:

“It was a challenge.”

Kasanganay claimed it was a little frustrating that several of his fights were cancelled due to various reasons, but was pleased that he got another shot at the UFC.

“When we finally got the LFA title, I was like ‘Let’s go.’

“It was funny because now looking on it like, I am kind of happy that it happened because a better blessing came with the Contender Series.”

The 26-year-old also didn’t sulk at the missed opportunity. Rather, he cranked up the training back home and ensured he was getting better.

Practice makes perfect

Kasanganay is 6-0 in his MMA career and he always wants to fight. The 26-year-old is on a mission to get better and shared some of his training methods while at home.

The UFC hopeful wasn’t stopping one bit of his training during the Covid-19 outbreak, and even touched upon a Dragon Ball Z story that showed his dedication to his craft:

“I am not really big into Anime or cartoons and stuff but I do remember when I was a kid watching Dragon Ball Z. Goku went to the chamber to develop and he was stuck in there and over time he was locked up but he was working within.

“He was locked up and he decided to be better than ever. It was challenging, for me it was like, ‘my fight’s coming up, when is this gonna happen?’

“I took that as a challenge. If I am going to be locked up, I am going to become that much better, I am going to work on this technique. Going to become this and become that and it really helped me out.”

Kasanganay is confident of making it to the UFC and claimed he was willing to fight anyone in the division.

The 26-year-old has been impressive since turning professional, and it will be interesting to see how he does against Anthony Adams in a few days.
