UFC star Gillian Robertson has a big fight coming up at Fight Island against Poliana Botelho next.

The Savage is currently 8-4 in her MMA career and was speaking exclusively to WERMMA ahead of the clash.

Robertson is coming off a win over Cortney Casey in June and was concentrating on getting a win in her next bout.

She believed that a possible rear-naked choke could be in the works again. The Canadian has four wins via that submission and has six submission wins in her professional career so far.

While she didn’t want to get too far ahead of herself and keep moving up, the 15th ranked Flyweight star also was keen on facing Antonina Shevchenko:

Antonina is the sister of UFC champion Valentina, and Robertson highlighted she wanted to take older sister on:

“There was a girl who was offered a month ago but it was kind of short notice.

“I think it was like 3-4 weeks notice. She said no, I said yes. But Antonina Shevchenko, I would love to be matched up with.

“She’s ranked 12 or 13 right now but I just want to move up and just get up but really anyone who’s above me, I am interested in.”

Another fight to take up

The 25-year-old also spoke about taking on Cynthia Calvillo. Robertson had lost to Calvillo earlier in her career but was open to a rematch in the future.

Calvillo is ranked #2 in the Flyweight rankings but Robertson believed she would put up a good fight against her rival now:

“Oh, 100%. When I fought her, I actually ended up taking a fight on five days notice.

“Her opponent pulled out and I flew across the country to California. I think we ended up taking it at 120 because I couldn’t make 115 at the time.

“I cut like 10 pounds to get there and we ended up fighting to a decision. It was definitely a decisive victory for her but if I would have had more time that fight would have been different.

“I definitely feel like I can give her problems now and that’s definitely a match-up I am looking forward to in the future.”

Robertson certainly is one of the exciting fighters in the UFC and it will be interesting to see how she does in her next fight.

She could get a crack at Antonina after winning her next outing, and that would be a fantastic clash too. Calvillo might be out of reach now, due to the rankings, but that could change after a couple of wins under Robertson’s belt.
