Bryan Barberena won his last UFC fight but spoke about his incredible farm too
Bryan Barberena loves the farm life so much that he set up his own farm, the Bam Fam Farm, with his family.
The 31-year-old UFC star was speaking exclusively to WERMMA and highlighted how important this kind of lifestyle was important to him.
Barberena was coming off an impressive win over Anthony Ivy and snapped a two-fight losing streak. However, the 31-year-old has put in a lot of effort into setting up his farm. Barberena was asked how he got involved in all this brought up his grandfather:
“My grandpa used to tell me about his farm in Colombia and it kind of stuck with me throughout the years and as I got older and older its something I wanted more and more.”
Barberena also had to convince his wife, Diana, about this, but she took up the realities of farming extremely well:
“I talked about it with my wife and I wanted like the off-grid lifestyle, like away from everything. Dug hand wells, solar panels, whatever but obviously my wife wasn’t all intense into it, so it definitely didn’t make sense for my kids and everything so we looked into it.
“She got more and more into it and decided to move out to Tennessee, buy some property, house, land, perimeter fence but we’ve done a lot of work since we moved in.
“We’ve fenced pastures and got cows and chickens and goats and we really just enjoy it. We wanted a different lifestyle to raise our kids in and we think we got that.
“We wanted to be as self-sufficient as possible and know where our food is grown and raised, and what is going inside our bodies.”
Just like fighting
Taking care of a farm is no easy task, especially one that is as big as the Bam Fam Farm. The UFC star explained how things are similar in the farming world and the fighting world, and added there are no days off:
“It is a fresh and great lifestyle that we really love. It is a lot like fighting, there are no days off. A lot of hard work, no days off, you can’t take a day off because there are mouths that depend on you to feed them.
“I gotta fight to put food on the table for them and bring in money and for the farm, its the animals, I need to ensure I am out there feeding them every day and giving them the love and care that they deserve.
“It is a love of hard work but it is so rewarding.”
The American went on to thank his family for all the hard work they continue to do to ensure the farm runs well.
