Alonzo Menifield is preparing for his next UFC fight but spoke about how much he loves Mike Tyson

UFC rising star Alonzo Menifield has a tough task for his next fight. The 32-year-old got his first loss of his MMA career against Devin Clark at UFC 250 and takes on Ovince Saint Preux on August 22.

The Light Heavyweight was speaking on the Blood, Sweat and Tears podcast and believed this was a good match up for him.

Beating Saint Preux would be a huge feather in his cap, however, the 32-year-old added that he had learned from some mistakes he had made from his last outing.

Jer Wilson, the host, asked Menifield if he had any favourite fighters, and the 32-year-old named a couple of big names:

“Yeah, Mike Tyson. MMA fighter? I used to like em all. I honestly like Brock Lesnar.”

Wilson added that Lesnar was a beast in the Octagon thanks to his size and build. Menifield also spoke about Lesnar’s time in college:

“He is a big dude and I know he used to play football too, so I was a big fan of his.”

Tyson is considered as one of the greatest boxers ever while Lesnar was a beast in the Octagon and in WWE.

A fun fight for Tyson

Tyson might be 54 but he looks to be in great shape. The former boxing champion is set to face former world champion Roy Jones Jr in an eight-round exhibition match in November.

Menifield was asked about Iron Mike’s return and he was looking forward to it:

“I think it’s a fun exhibition. Maybe he has some demons he wants to get off his chest. Mike is always going to be my favourite though.

“I think it’s great, it’s awesome, good for him.”

While this is one fight to keep an eye out for, it will be interesting to see how Menifield does in his next outing.

The 32-year-old added that he was keen to fight again later in 2020. He also wanted to put on a show for those who are stuck at home during the pandemic.
