Conor McGregor losing to Dustin Poirier at UFC 257 has the world talking and Al Iaquinta also shared his thoughts on the same.

The former UFC Lightweight contender was speaking to the Schmo and Helen Yee and was asked about the fight.

Iaquinta hasn’t faced either man but backed McGregor to get the win. However, the leg kicks seemed to have done all the damage in the fight:

“I thought Conor was going to win. It seemed like he had all the momentum going in from the last fight. Seems like he was kind of big brothering him but Dustin came out there and fought good leg kicks.”

The kicks saw McGregor hobbling after the clash but the Irishman claimed that his lack of activity was one reason for the loss.

Poirier had been more active in terms of staying in shape and Iaquinta was asked if this played a role in McGregor’s loss:

“Definitely. It was impactful in the fight, for sure.

“Dustin’s been active. It could go both ways, I don’t know. If Conor would have won, maybe you would have said he was rested and felt good, it’s just that’s the way it turned out but it seems like the inactivity definitely hurt him a little bit.”

Is there a new Conor McGregor on the horizon?

Iaquinta also wasn’t sure of what kind of McGregor would be back after this loss. The former contender believed that McGregor was in a different space at the moment as he was more calm before and after the fight.

McGregor had done it all and might be enjoying his time now while Poirier was hungry for the belt.

The Irishman is keen on a trilogy with Poirier. However, he is spending some quality time away from the Octagon.

McGregor shared a few snaps of enjoying his time on a yacht and even snared a fish during a trip. The Irishman is still one of the biggest draws in the UFC, and it will be interesting to see what is next for him.
