Why Maxi Gomez would be a good signing for Everton this summer
Keeping in line with their spending spree, Everton are now looking to add Valencia striker Maxi Gomez to their team as reported by the Telegraph. The Merseyside club have asked Valencia about the prospect of a transfer.
Profile
Maxi Gomez is a 24-year-old Uruguayan striker who plays for La Liga club Valencia. He started his youth career at Defensor Sporting in 2013. After two seasons in the youth setup, he moved to the first-team. He had a fruitful spell there as he scored 29 goals and assisted 12 in just 52 games.
In 2017, Celta Vigo brought him to Europe and he continued in the same fashion. He was one of Europe’s most prolific frontmen in the two years he was there, notching up some mind-boggling numbers again.
He scored 31 goals and assisted 10 in just 75 appearances before making the move to Valencia last season. He hasn’t been too shabby for them either.
Do Everton need Gomez?
Everton are keen to get back into the top half of the table as they continue their transfer splurge. They have already completed the transfers of James Rodriguez, Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure from Real Madrid, Napoli and Watford respectively.
With the team low on firepower up front, it makes sense that the club are after someone with proven goal-scoring ability such as Maxi Gomez. He definitely boasts better numbers than Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the club’s best striker currently.
Gomez is fairly young and can be a long-term solution for Everton. His physical style of play would thrive in a league like the Premier League.

Verdict
Maxi Gomez looks like a good fit for this Everton side bolstered by the arrivals of James Rodiguez, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Allan. He is a viable option available in the market that Everton should look to pursue.
He has regularly been producing good numbers in front of goal, which is something Everton could use alongside Richarlison to ease the goal-scoring burden on the Brazilian. With so many new signings, Everton need to be careful about how they can accommodate them into the team. But from the up, it does look like Maxi Gomez can make the cut at Goodison Park.
