Where did American country singer Morgan Wallen go to high school?
Morgan Wallen is an American country singer and songwriter. He competed in the sixth season of The Voice, originally as a member of Usher’s team, but later as a member of Adam Levine’s team. After being eliminated in the playoffs of that season, he signed to Panacea Records, releasing his debut EP, Stand Alone, in 2015.
Wallen was born to Tommy and Lesli Wallen on May 13, 1993, in Sneedville, Tennessee. Tommy served for a time as a local church pastor, while Lesli worked as a teacher. In his teens, the family relocated south to Knoxville, where he graduated from Gibbs High School.
As a child, Wallen took piano and violin lessons. He was raised on a diverse musical playlist, with his father exposing him to classic rock mainstays. In his teens, the 29 year old gravitated towards bands like Breaking Benjamin and Nickelback, as well as rappers like Lil Wayne.
While it has been some time since Wallen graduated out of Gibbs High School, he recently went back to where it all started out for him.
Why did Morgan Wallen go back to his high school recently?
Wallen recently celebrated his new album, One Thing at a Time, by returning to his high school, Gibbs High School in Tennessee.
On Thursday morning, he showed up unannounced and surprised the senior class with a special invitation to a concert that evening. The students gathered on the school’s baseball field and enjoyed a concert from Wallen, which featured several songs from his new album, including “Keith Whitley,” “Last Night,” “All Your Reasons” and many of his country radio hits, such as “Thought You Should Know,” “You Proof” and “More Than My Hometown.”
Wallen also presented the Gibbs High School principal with a check for $35,000 from the Morgan Wallen Foundation. The funds will go toward the school’s performing arts and sports programs, including the purchase of instruments for the choral and band department, as well as equipment for the sports department.
