Why Liverpool must sell out-of-favour star Sheyi Ojo this summer
Liverpool are in talks with Middlesbrough over a shock £10million switch for young winger Sheyi Ojo. The Reds took him to the USA leg of their pre-season campaign but are looking to sell after several loan deals in the past couple of seasons.
Ojo did no harm to his reputation by playing games for Jurgen Klopp‘s men, as he displayed his skills. Middlesbrough are in dire need of someone like him to add that creative guile and burst of pace to make runs behind a defence.
Here’s why Liverpool should sell the 21-year-old and let him showcase his potential elsewhere:
Liverpool might not need him this season
Liverpool have done fantastically well to buy players in several positions to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season. Their attacking department, in particular, has assets and backups that may be enough to go through a season of Jurgen Klopp football.
For that reason, Ojo will be a bit-part player, only playing in certain cup games and then staying on the fringes for the most part. However, he is talented enough to play in the first-team. Hence, the Reds must do justice to his propensity and let him perform elsewhere.
There is no doubt that the 21-year-old will shine at Middlesbrough, given the fact that the Championship club need a player like him in their front line. His confidence on the ball, mixed with his abilities to score fabulous goals is something to admire.
Liverpool have loaned the player out to other clubs in the past two seasons, indicating that he isn’t in Klopp’s primary plans. With the Reds buying more quality in their attacking department, it makes sense for them to offload Ojo permanently.
