Arsenal Opinion: Gunners must offload Kolasinac to Barcelona

According to a recent report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Catalan giants Barcelona are said to be looking for potential left-backs to sign this summer in order to try and provide Jordi Alba with some first-team competition.

It has been claimed that the Nou Camp based club have shortlisted a number of players who fit the bill with inclusions from some of the biggest teams in Europe.

The list includes Porto’s Alex Telles, PSG’s Juan Bernat, Atletico Madrid’s Felipe Luis and even Real Betis man Junior Firpo. What comes as a surprise is the inclusion of Arsenal full-back Sead Kolasinac, who has been criticised for jus performed in the English capital this season.

The Bosnian international is still only 25, meaning that the age criteria is met but his inconsistency on the pitch should be seen as an alarming fault.

Although such is the case, the Gunners will do well to cash in on the Bosnian in the summer with a club like Barcelona said to interested. In today’s inflated footballing market, the Gunners would certainly be able to make a massive margin by selling him for a high price.

These funds can be invested back into the market into the purchase of a top-quality replacement.

It was suggested in a report by The Mirror earlier this month that the Gunners are quite on signing Ajax left-back Nicolas Tagliafico. Although the rumours have died down, if they’re able to sell Kolasinac to Barcelona for a decent price, that could be enough to fund the Argentine international’s transfer.

Tagliafico would be an excellent addition to the Arsenal side as he possesses immense amounts of quality in both a defensive and attacking sense.

Kolasinac

Sead Kolasinac spent his academy days in Germany with a multitude of top clubs including Hoffenheim, Stuttgart and even Schalke for a fairly long time.

It was from the Veltins-Arena that the Gunners eventually signed him in a free transfer and since making the switch, he has become a regular feature of Unai Emery’s Premier League setup.

The Bosnian played 24 times in the league for the Gunners this season but didn’t manage to find the back of the net. He did provide 7 assists though, which is probably where Barcelona see the potential.

His physical strength and blinding pace will certainly be a good addition to the Catalan side and the Gunners will do well to cash in on him before it’s late and invest in something better.
